Thousand Trails Las Vegas

It may seem like a strange place to spend a holiday like Christmas, but we have family here. This stop is officially a family stop; Las Vegas is just the backdrop. The RV park was not what I would call nice, at all. We spent most of our time out and about so we didn’t think about it too much.

We spent time with family. My dad, mom and niece all flew in, and my uncle and cousin and her family live here. My cousin has three kids, so our boys were beyond happy to spend time with them. It was such a great time with this side of our family.

We did see a few Vegas things. We saw the water show and the Christmas display at the Bellagio and walked the strip at night, with all the kids. The Cosmopolitan had a real ice rink on the pool level! The boys got to see the strip from my mother’s room, high up, at The Flamingo, they thought that was pretty cool. We finished the Christmas shopping at one of the largest malls I have seen in a long time. Sprinkles cupcakes and frozen hot chocolate from Serendipity3 are off the bucket list. Yay! We went to Fremont Street to eat some incredible Thai food. We went to see a Cirque Du Soleil show; the kids were in awe, it was fantastic! Oh, we also won big at the casino, $14. We run this city!

There was also a lot of non-Vegas things. We went to see Star Wars, took the kids to the park and ate a lot of food. We had a wonderful Christmas surrounded by family (even though we were missing a few). It was a mellow New Years Eve, but we all managed to stay up until midnight. New Years Day we tried to go to the Hover Dam but the line to get into the parking lot was backed up to the highway, oh well, we decided against it. I’m sure we’ll be back sooner rather than later. Also, the boys had a sleepover with their cousins; they loved that!

Having this family time is something that would have never happened if we didn’t decide to take this trip. Reconnecting with family and friends has been one of the best gifts, and there is more of that in store for us. We’re getting ready to head east now.
