It’s time to go to the Grand Canyon! We drove from Sedona to the Grand Canyon, it rained the whole way. We checked in at the campground, which was just outside the park gates. It’s not what I would call a nice campground, it was, however, very convenient and inexpensive. We set up and headed right for the park, the rain had let up and the skies were clearing.

We wanted Liam and Quinn”s first look at the Grand Canyon to be something they would remember. We covered their eyes until we got to the overlook. I wish I had a picture of their faces, it was a look I won’t soon forget. We spent some time walking and looking at different overlooks. It is awe-inspiring, to say the least. The sheer enormity of it boggles my mind.

It rained almost all the time for the next two days. We found a little time when the rain stopped to go and look at the canyon. We weren’t able to do any hiking, the trails were all mud. We were disappointed about that, we know these things are going to happen. We did go to the National Geographic center to watch an I-Max movie about the Grand Canyon. That was the best we could do with the weather not cooperating.

The last day we were there we had a late check out. Ken was working, I brought the boys to the park to go on a fossil walk, field trip! The rain had finally let up and it was beautiful out. I really enjoyed learning about and looking for fossils. I’m pretty sure the boys did too. They also became Jr. Rangers, I think that was the highlight of The Grand Canyon for them.
